In this 8-week course, students will learn skills to audition, act, and work in film, TV & commercials.
Class experience
**Please take "Intro to Acting On-Camera" before enrolling in this 8-week course! Students will learn and practice on-camera techniques, and how to audition either in person in the "audition room," or with self-tapes. Each week will either be a rehearsal or a performance, as students will build a safe environment to give and receive feedback and practice being "directed" in scenes. Students will learn the tools needed to act in front of the camera for tv, film, or commercial. They will learn memorization techniques, how to read & rehearse a script, and the specifics of commercial acting. They will grow their confidence when auditioning or acting in front of the camera and receive personalized feedback and tips week to week.
I am a "working actor" outside of class, and have lots of experience in commercials, auditioning for professional TV shows/films, and writing/producing my own scripts. I do have an "on-camera" agent and am always open to answering questions about the film industry. I first was a theatre actor before I did film, so I can work well with students who have that same background-- in teaching them how to transition from stage to on-camera acting. During COVID, I have "self-taped" auditions almost every week, and can teach students how to master that skill. While in Chicago, I've auditioned for movies, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire, as well as various commercials.
