Students will be able to: Use the actor’s instrument to portray a character and story analyze and craft characters understand the importance of identity for the actor unearth the special parts about themselves and what composes their identity describe the world of a character and traits that make them who they are apply different character movements to play different kinds of characters use the body and voice to effectively express a character and story use tactics to complete an objective break down a professional script define a relationship between characters and perform a scene with a partner identify the subtext of a script and make choices within the bounds of the subtext identify objectives and tactics in our everyday lives and in the context of a scene identify the environment of a scene and conventions to create an environment effectively use props to tell a story perform beginner imagination and sense memory understand how to perform and break down a monologue switch between the three circles of presence to be more present in a scene
Students are encouraged to prepare the short acting assignments that are given for the next class. It is a highly rewarding experience if they choose to put the little bit of extra energy into the acting assignments. The skills learned in each class can be rehearsed with an adult at home (or friends).
Students may receive written feedback from the instructor upon request at any point. Helpful and constructive verbal feedback will be given after each exercise.
