Class Experience

This is an acting class that will give the student the opportunity to expand their understanding of different acting techniques. This is a student-led class! The student could be a beginning actor or an advanced. I will be sure to build the curriculum around them. As an educator, I aim to create a classroom environment that inspires students to be brave and make choices. I teach multiple techniques such as Chekhov, Meisner, and Hagen. In each class, there will be a short reading assigned. This will be uploaded to Outschool before every class. This reading will focus on different concepts that the lesson will be built on. We will start our lesson with some sort of engaging exercise that practices this new concept. In the second half of the class, the students will read a play. We will try to read through one scene per class. Plays that this class will read are, Little Women, Midsummer Night's Dream, Our Town, and many others! The schedule is subject to change to reflect the students who are enrolled but a tentative schedule is as followed:

Week ofJuly 5th: Introduction to Uta Hagen: The basic object exercise:
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s The Basic Object Exercises exercise by rehearsing and performing a 2-minute slice of their life.

Week of July 12th: Introduction to Michael Chekhov: Psycho-Physical
Triangle flow: Students will learn to demonstrate abstract emotions through movement and ensemble.

Week of July 19th: Introduction to Meisner: Finding Authenticity
Word repetition exercise: Students will repeat a simple observation back and forth with a partner in hopes to build authenticity and spontaneity.

Week July 26th: Introduction to Stanislavsky: Communication
Sending and receiving rays: One student is the sender and the other the receiver. The sender will lead in various movements while the receiver follows in hopes to build an ensemble.

Parental Guidance
The plays read will always be announced on the Outschool page but some plays may consist of concepts that might be advanced for some younger actors. I will always give trigger warnings, and let the students and parents know before every lesson if there will be violence or mature content in the play.

There is no supply list but I do recommend printing the articles and scenes I share every week.

I am a performer and educator living in Las Vegas! I have my bachelors, masters, and soon my doctorate in opera performance. I have performed with opera and theatre companies all over the world. I have taught with three different universities and have led classes in acting, voice, theory, and movement. I love performing but I love teaching even more! I try to always lead each class with patience, and compassion and cultivate a brave space for a student to be curious and grow as a performer.
