Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will be expected to work on, and be ready to perform, 2 scenes from Disney Channel shows during this course. To help them do this well, there are a few goals. Goal #1: Work on empathizing with their characters Goal #2: Work on using that empathy to feel what their characters are feeling in their scenes Goal #3: Learn to identify the thoughts their characters may be having but not saying... Goal #4: Get comfortable letting their own personalities shine to help their characters come to life
Kids will be given 2 scenes to breakdown, prepare and memorize over the 5 week course. Spending 10-15 minutes per day working on their scenes, will help them be prepared and ready for class. It is helpful for learners to have a partner to practice their scenes with. Some kids end up preferring to work alone, but it is helpful for many to hear the lines the other character in their scene speaks. This also helps with learning cue lines, playing with timing and 'finding the funny.'
After the first class, learners will be sent a breakdown template and a scene to prepare for the next week. This will happen again after the 3rd class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Kids will not be graded in this course. They will be given direction, notes and feedback each week in class. Parents are welcome to ask for feedback.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
