Class Experience

One-on-one coaching for young actors to delve into a script and better understand the importance of text, character, and vocal work. Bring a memorized monologue, audition piece, speech, poem, or other text to practice, hone, and receive help in presentation, acting, speech, and creative choices. Casting professionals and directors are looking for the best of you and unlocking the skills to relax into the audition and present yourself well only happens with rehearsal, confidence, and hard work. Acting coaching will have the flexibility to meet your learner where they are and help them develop more skill and detail within their piece. This one hour session will focus on what you CHOOSE. Bring your areas of weakness or ask for evaluation and we can grow your acting work in one session. If you have a specific monologue please send me a message or a copy ahead of time so I can prepare some exercises or text tips for your learner.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to research, understand, and find beats within the script. Students will be coached on physical, vocal, and emotional choices within the piece and grow to better enter into their acting work with greater honesty, clarity, and technical skill. Students will learn ways to overcome bad acting habits and blocks that prevent actors from being natural onstage or on camera. Students will learn the silent beats/thinking moments within the text that can add dynamic moments to their acting. Students will grow in using their innner creativity to bring their acting to life with unique choices that come from their own ideas.

Supply List
A script to use as source material. If needed I can provide a script to the learner upon request.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
I utilize multiple acting techniques taken from Stanislavski's An Actor Prepares, Uta Hagen's Respect for Acting, and How to Make Your Audience Fall in Love With You By Deryn Warren and Kristin Linklater's voice acting books. The students will not be asked to read these texts and although I may draw from their acting exercises the books themselves are not meant to be a textbook but a source for my own techniques that I will draw from as I coach them to improve their acting.
