Learn comedic acting from Nickelodeon Set Coach, Adam Tait! Each class will begin with a physical warm-up, and vocal exercises using tongue twisters. Students will learn techniques for creating a comedic character based on their own strengths and learn to recognize and deliver comedic triplets, turnarounds, and rhythm jokes in a script. They will see examples of comedic characters from Film and TV and examples of good comedic acting. WHO IS YOUR TEACHER? Adam Tait has been a set coach on TV comedies for 17 years. He is currently the set coach for Nickelodeon's DANGER FORCE. Before that he was the set coach on HENRY DANGER, SAM & CAT, VICTORIOUS, iCARLY, ZOEY 101, MUTT AND STUFF, the re-make of Sid and Marty Krofft's SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS, and several TV pilots. He's worked with many of your favorite stars including Jack Black, Jace Norman, Arianna Grande, Victoria Justice, and more!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of joke structure so they can recognize comedic beats in a script. They will learn to recognize triplets, turnarounds, and rhythm jokes in a script, and they will learn how to deliver these lines in a funny way. They will also learn how to create comedic characters based on their individual strengths and personality. Students will learn important principles of comedic acting such as: the importance of not distracting from the punch line, and the importance of relationship in comedy.
