1 hour per week. Upon request, learners receive personalized feedback on acting techniques, including script analysis, character development, and on-camera performance. Evaluations highlight strengths and areas for growth. Learners may submit recorded performances for detailed critiques, focusing on aspects such as emotional expression, pacing, and authenticity. For those interested in pursuing acting professionally, guidance on creating effective audition tapes, understanding casting processes, and navigating the entertainment industry is provided. Optional assignments, such as monologue preparation and scene study, can be completed outside of class to reinforce learning objectives. Learning Goals

Learners will analyze film and TV scripts to identify character objectives, obstacles, and tactics, enabling them to make informed acting choices and deliver authentic performances that demonstrate a strong understanding of character and scene work.
Learners will develop essential on-camera techniques including eye line, blocking, vocal delivery, and emotional expression, allowing them to confidently perform in auditions & scenes while adapting their presence to meet professional industry standards.

Lesson 1:
Introduction to Acting & Industry Insights
 In our first session, learners will explore the fundamentals of acting, including the actor's role in film and television. We will discuss pathways to becoming a professional actor, demystify the casting process, and introduce basic script reading. Through interactive discussions and scene role-play, students will gain an understanding of the entertainment industry and the skills required to succeed.​

Character Development & Scene Breakdown
 Explore the art of creating compelling characters by analyzing scripts for objectives, obstacles, and tactics. Learn how to interpret stage directions and collaborate with directors and writers. Engage in scene work to apply character choices and deepen understanding of storytelling in acting.​

Audition Techniques & Casting Process
 Gain insights into the professional audition process, including how to find auditions, prepare headshots and resumes, and understand casting expectations. Participate in mock auditions to practice cold readings and receive constructive feedback to enhance performance and confidence.​

Parental Guidance
In this acting class, we may explore scripts that include themes or language reflective of real-world film and television content. While all materials are selected to be age-appropriate and suitable for learners, some scripts might contain mild language or mature themes that are commonly encountered in the industry. I will ensure that any such content is presented thoughtfully and within the bounds of Outschool's content policies. Parents are encouraged to review any materials provided and discuss any concerns with me directly to ensure a comfortable and supportive learning environment for their child.​

With over 30 years of experience in the performing arts, I bring a wealth of knowledge from both stage and screen to my teaching. My background includes extensive work as a professional actress in film, television, and theater, allowing me to provide students with real-world insights into the acting industry.​

I have taught acting to children and teenagers in various settings, including schools, community theaters, and private workshops. My approach is student-centered, focusing on nurturing each learner's unique talents and building their confidence.​
