Under the direction of an industry professional, students ages 9-14 will learn the essentials of acting and auditioning for commercials. This class covers crucial skills such as slating, self-taping, cold copy reads, improv, and using props. Commercial acting has unique requirements, and our course will equip students with the tools to succeed in a professional environment. This dynamic and interactive class allows students to work individually and with partners, mastering the new landscape of self-taping and virtual auditions.

Topics include:

🎯 Techniques for interpreting and delivering unprepared scripts (cold copy)
🎯 Script breakdown and making strong choices (prepared copy)
🎯 Improvisation exercises for spontaneity and creativity
🎯 Partner work for cold and prepared scenes
🎯 Technical needs for self-taping, including camera, lighting, and framing
🎯 Understanding the casting process and what directors look for
🎯 The business side of commercial acting, including working with agents and casting directors

Teaching Style:
Our team of instructors boast a nurturing, supportive and encouraging style, aimed at building confidence and practical skills. We focus on providing constructive feedback and creating a fun, collaborative environment.

Our teaching approach is hands-on and interactive. We use a combination of lectures, games, slides, video clips, and discussions to ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience.


SUBSITUTE POLICY:
Ferrell Studios is an organization on Outschool with about 15 teachers with professional training and experience in the arts. Occasionally, the teacher for this class may not be able to teach and a substitute teacher from the organization will take her place. Only teachers trained to teach this class will serve as a possible substitute for the class. A message will be posted in the Outschool classroom before the class takes place in the event a substitute will be teaching. Thank you for your understanding!
