In this one-time creative drama class, students will create their very own superhero and explore their special powers while saving the day.
Class experience
In this Creative Drama class, students will go an a magical elevator ride to arrive inside a comic book. Students will walk around the world and discover their superhero powers. This is a class full of imagination and exploration. Every class will begin with a short acting warm-up and question of the day, followed by our main exercise. There will be lots of moving around and playacting. There will be time at the end for each student to talk about their superhero of the day or to share their...
Students will explore their own imagination while working together to create a story full of characters and "events". Students will learn to share the space by taking turns. Students will begin to learn empathy as they act like others not like them.

One of my favorite quotes can be found below. Creative Drama should be explored. When playacting with your student it is important to not stop the direction of their imagination but follow along and please try to remain off camera if you are participating in the class along with your student. The exploration is what creative drama is all about. “Of all the arts, drama involves the participant the most fully: intellectually, emotionally, physically, verbally, and socially. As players, children assume the roles of others, and they learn about becoming more sensitive to the problems and values of persons different from themselves. At the same time, they are learning to work cooperatively, for drama is a communal art; each person is necessary to the whole.” Creative Drama in the Classroom and Beyond Nellie Mc Caslin
