Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This course will allow students to take a practice ACT outside of class, and use class time to go over the answers, answer any questions students have, and reteach math content they may have forgotten. All 60 questions of the practice ACT will be covered in depthy, based on student needs and questioning. Students will also be presented with various test taking and time management strategies to help them on test day.

This course if for students who are already somewhat familiar with the ACT format and are comfortable attempting a practice test on their own first. Most students should have already completed Algebra 1 and Geometry coursework, before taking this class, unless they are planning to take the ACT early for data purposes. Students must come prepared to class by having their practice test completed first. We will use multiple class sessions to walk through the 60 question test, and student will be assigned additional practice tests as needed.

This class will be mostly discussion based, with learners asking questions as needed, and the occasional short lecture and modeling to reteach any skills from previous math courses.

The course breakdown is as follows:

Week of (8/15) - Scoring and questions 1-15 - score the math portion of the practice ACT and assist learners in finding their areas of strength and weakness (arithmetic,
geometry, graphing etc.) Begin covering at least the first 15 questions of the practice test. Students will be given step by step instructions on how to compete any problems that they missed or were unsure about.
Week of (8/22) - Questions 16-30 - The first 30 or more questions of the math ACT test will be reviewed with learners. Test taking strategies and mathematical processes will be reviewed.
Week of (9/12) - Questions 31- 45 - The first 45 or more questions of the math ACT test will be reviewed with learners. Test taking strategies and mathematical processes will be reviewed.

Week of (9/19) - Questions 46-60 - The remainder of the ACT practice test will be discussed with students. If time allows, additional sample questions will be provided for students to practice the skills they learned in the course.

Weeks 5-8. Students will repeat the 4 week cycle with another ACT math practice test.
Learning Goals
