It’s time. The ACT is approaching and it is time for us to prepare, study, and conquer! During the pandemic, several institutions stopped required entrance exams but more schools have begun accepting these assessments again, especially those ranked among the top and best colleges and universities. The approach to taking the ACT is different from taking an assessment in school and this course will show students how. This course will specifically analyze each section of the ACT and discuss specific and innovative strategies to completing each section with ease and confidence. What will my child learn? Your child will learn several distinct strategies and approaches to help them exceed expectations on the ACT. Although these strategies are transferable, they will be specifically tailored toward the ACT. What topics will you cover in this class? Below is a compiled list of class topics for this course: How is your class structured? Our class is a 50-minute course that meets once every week for 5 weeks. The typical class breakdown is: - First 5-10 minutes: check in, review past lesson, complete the entry ticket - Next 30-35 minutes: learn new content - Last 5 minutes: play a collaborative game and receive tasks for upcoming class How do you teach? In this course, I utilize all learning styles to engage each child. This course does require a level of independence and accountability, as we will be doing group activities that should lead to individual growth. I primarily use slideshows and other multimedia platforms to deliver instruction and make learning fun! I also utilize videos and music for auditory learners, google slides for visual learners, and hands-on activities for kinesthetic learners. I incorporate informal and formal assessments in all my lessons to evaluate your child’s understanding of the content, including exit tickets and quick check-ins, to make informed decisions about the upcoming lesson. I am responsive to students' needs at all times. What does my child need to know before enrolling in this class? Your child needs to know their name and have an open mind! This class will challenge their thinking so open-mindedness is key! That’s it!
