Assessment will be through their finished product and their enthusiasm and confidence in painting!Class Experience
Students will follow a step by step tutorial on painting the owl using acrylic paints. Students will learn basic acrylic painting techniques including the care of brushes/materials, mixing colors, brush strokes and selecting correct brushes for each step. This course is a one time class for an individual or small class. The instructor paints step by step along with the students, giving guidance along the way through demonstrations and check ins with their projects (if they wish to share). Through positive encouragement and building connections, I hope for learners to be confident to be creative and take their artwork in their own directions. We will be interacting throughout as we paint each step of the painting together and continuously share our progress as they wish and discuss the steps. Students will not need prior painting experience ~ beginners welcome!

Paper or canvas (something to paint on) Paper plate or palette (something to put paint on) Two brushes (a smaller brush for details and a larger brush for background and bigger areas) Jar/cup of water Paper towels/napkin/cloth Acrylic Paints: White (for body of owl) Black (for eyes, details of feathers, claws) Brown (for claws, tree branch) Yellow (for eyes) Blue (for background- light blue or dark blue or purple…for night~ your choice) Green- if you wish to add leaves to branch *A black permanent marker or paint pen (is helpful for details, but may use all paint)
