Description
Class Experience
This fun class will help students bring out their inner artist while learning basic techniques in painting with acrylic paints as well as a few fun and interesting tricks. We will also be doing some drawing and planning of our own compositions.
I am an artist and children’s book author/illustrator who has taught and worked in the creative field since 2011. I hold degrees in Art, English, and Psychology as well as Creative Writing. My passion is catering to creativity and imagination! I believe these are pillars to innovative thought and raising curious, well-rounded children. The main goal in all my classes is to ignite my student’s inner creative spark to drive them to explore, experiment, learn, and grow!
There will be no homework in the class. All classes are designed to be completed during class time but some learners may want to take extra time afterwards depending on their own personal pace and interest.
-Canvas (12x16 size is a recommendation and can really be done on various sizes but steps may have to be adapted for different sizes) -Acrylic Paints in various colors: white, black, red, yellow, orange, blue, green, purple (other colors can be used if student wants to be creative) -Paper Towels -Paper Plate (at least 2) -Pencil with eraser -Water cup -Brushes in various sizes (a large #10 Flat, a medium #12 Round, a small #4 liner) These brushes are only a recommendation and we can make different ones work if needed but it is important to have at least one larger brush for large areas and one smaller brush for details. -Painting easel can be useful but not at all necessary -may want to put cardboard or garbage bag down on painting surface to protect from paint -may want to wear old clothes since acrylics can stain
All learners will be assessed informally. Students will be encouraged to share their work with the class if they choose.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No parental guidance is needed other than help with the supply set-up at the start of class.
