We will learn to paint acrylic birch trees with a different technique of painting the background first. Using masking tape, we will create our trees first. Then students will choose at least three colors for their own back grounds. We will learn to blend these into a lively forest that will make our birch trees pop. For the next step, we will peel off the tape to reveal our trees. We will add some colors to give them a three dimensional shape. I typically give enough instruction to get the student started and comfortable with the medium and make sure we have time to explore and get creative.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to hold and clean a brush. We will practice blending techniques and they will learn to create an three dimensional shape. I always add a little color theory in so they understand how to work with paint.
