Class Experience

Students will learn different intermediate painting skills such as:
Sponge Painting
Textural painting
Detail work

Students will also learn how to compose a simple painting and a little bit about lighting.
Each week I will expect students to practice with acrylic paint in their own time. This is not something that will be marked but it will help them on their painting journey.

If a student does not finish a painting in class time I will expect them to finish it for homework. This is especially true for "part 1" of the paintings.
• 8 OR MORE PAINT COLOURS: Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Brown, White, Black NOTE: Any acrylic paint should work, but better quality paint usually results in better paintings. My go-to paint is Winsor Newton or Artist Loft Level 3 (level 1 works but it is not great paint). • 6 OR MORE PAINT BRUSH (at least): 1 Thick flat brush = 3/4 • 1in wide. 1 Medium flat brush = 1/3 inch wide. 3 Medium round brush. 1 Very small, thin rounded brush • 3 GOOD PAINT SURFACE: Traditional canvases, canvas board or wood boards are ideal. I usually paint on a wooden canvas Acrylic/Painting paper will work but it could be more of a challenge. It would also need to be taped down with painters tape. • 1-2 PRACTICE PAINT SURFACES: I use thin, smooth, sturdy cardboard from a cereal/cracker/cookie box or frozen food box. • PALATES: I use plastic lids • SPONGE: Large kitchen sponges work best. • OLD RAG/CLOTH • WATER CONTAINER • PENCIL AND ERASER
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will provide helpful feedback if the learner sends me a photo fo their painting in the learner area. If the student does not submit the painting they I can not provide additional, valuable feedback.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
