US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
This class is an ongoing format. Students will create a new painting every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the series any week. Prior attendance and knowledge of the subject is not required to attend. This class is designed for students who want to learn the art of Acrylic Painting. Basic color theory and color mixing will be explored as well as textures and techniques. Instructors will use a step by step approach to demonstrate techniques, such as under-painting, illusion of transparency, shadows and highlights, and value layering to illustrate foreground, middle ground and background. Students will also learn how to incorporate perspective and color theory into a painting, and add depth and luminous warmth with acrylic washes and glazes. They will learn about choosing paints, painting surfaces, and how to make the most of their paint and brushes as they paint. Everyone will work at their own pace. No previous skills are required. Once they built a solid foundation and keep practicing, they will be able to design a multitude of unique acrylic paintings. Classes are highly interactive and students will have the opportunity to socialize and share their ideas in a fun and upbeat environment. Please Note: Each weekly instruction will be finished by the end of class. Students are recommended to continue working on their masterpiece after we have signed off for the day. Since art skills are incremental with practice, the instructions are intended to be re-applied often and spark further inspirations.
