What's included

4 live meetings
2 hrs 40 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be required to practice a minimum of 30 minutes per week over a 2-3 day period. Frequency over the length of practice time is preferred. For example, I prefer a student to practice 5-10 minutes per day, 3 days per week than to practice 30 minutes in one day and not touch the guitar again for the rest of the week. IMPORTANT: Please be sure to tune your learner's guitar prior to each practice session AND each lesson. Instruments get out of tune easily and quickly.
Assessment
Song sheets and resources will be provided upon enrollment. New song sheets for the upcoming week will be uploaded to the classroom each week.

Class Experience

This course is a continuation of "Acoustic Guitar for Beginners". Unless learners already know the C, D, F, G, and A chords, they should not enroll in Part 2 until they have completed Part 1.

In this 4 week course, students will learn and practice the chords necessary to play a variety of beginner songs. We will learn a new song each week. In each class, we will:

* learn at least one new chord
* practice the chords previously learned
* practice the correct finger and hand positions for each chord
* practice switching from chord to chord more smoothly while singing the song

The goal will be to play the song (slowly!) together at the end of each class.

Week 1: We will review the D, G, and A chords, learn the E minor chord, practice correct finger positions, and learn to strum while singing "Jack and Jill."

Week 2: We will review the G chord, learn the C and D7 chords, and practice correct finger positions and strumming patterns while learning to play "Lavender's Blue."

Week 3: We will review the G and C chords, learn the F chord, and practice correct finger positions/strumming patterns while learning to play "This Old Man."

Week 4: We will practice the G and D7 chords, learn the A minor chord, and practice correct finger positions and strumming patterns while learning to play "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep."

This is a safe place to learn and make mistakes! Learning a new instrument is fun! By the end of this course, your child will have a knowledge of basic chords that they can use to play many different songs, outside of what will be learned in class.

Learning Goals

Students will review and continue to improve their accuracy in playing chords learned in Part 1 of this course. Students will continue to learn basic guitar chords, hand positioning, finger positioning, and basic strum patterns. Students will also learn beginner songs like "Jack and Jill" and "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep."
