1-2 hours per week. Students will be required to practice a minimum of 30-60 minutes per week over a 2-3 day period. Frequency over the length of practice time is preferred. For example, I prefer a student to practice 15-20 minutes per day, 3 days per week than to practice 60 minutes in one day and not touch the guitar again for the rest of the week. IMPORTANT: Please be sure to tune your learner's guitar prior to each practice session. Instruments get out of tune easily and quickly.Class Experience
In this 4 week course, students will learn the basic chords necessary to play a variety of beginner songs. We will learn a new song each week. In each class, we will learn two to three chords, practice the correct finger and hand positions for each chord, and learn a basic strum pattern. We will also practice switching from chord to chord while singing the song. The goal will be to play the song (slowly!) together at the end of each class. Week 1: We will learn the D chord and the A chord, practice correct finger positions, and learn to strum while singing "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Week 2: We will learn the G chord and reinforce the A and D chords from week 1 by learning to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." We will continue to practice correct finger positions and strumming techniques. Week 3: We will learn the E chord and continue to practice the A chord, as well as practice correct finger positions and strumming patterns while learning to play "Itsy Bitsy Spider." Week 4: We will practice the D, A, and G chords learned in this course by learning to play "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." We will continue to practice correct finger positioning and strumming techniques. This is a safe place to learn and make mistakes! Learning a new instrument is fun! By the end of this course, your child will have a knowledge of basic chords that they can use to play many different songs, outside of what will be learned in class.

I have taught gymnastics, music, ESL, Spanish, and elementary/middle/high school grades). I have homeschooled my children for the past 15 years and have also been an online teacher for the past five years. I am a loving and patient educator who believes learning should be FUN! I encourage participation and lots of questions in all of my classes. When I am not teaching, I absolutely love spending time with my husband and children. We have two special needs children (Cerebral Palsy and Autism Spectrum Disorder) and a typical child that keep us on our toes! We love the outdoors, hiking, singing, playing instruments, cooking, and playing board games together. I look forward to meeting your children in the classroom!
