OVERALL ======== This class is a one-time assessment or study session for a private school's SSAT or ISEE entrance exam. See below for more information about each test and what we will practice for the ONE-TIME session. SSAT ==== The SSAT is the Secondary School Admission Test a student takes as a private school entrance exam. In this class, we will do practice drills and practice tests for ONE section. The SSAT exam is 2 to 3 hours depending on the Level (elementary, middle, or upper) and has four sections of multiple choice. Please select ONE section for practice: 1. Quantitative / Math = 30 minutes (1st math section) 2. Reading = 30 to 40 minutes 3. Verbal = 20 to 30 minutes 4. Quantitative / Math (2nd math section) = 30 minutes (only for middle and upper) Three LEVELS depending on what grade your child is going into: 1. Elementary Level: 4th or 5th grade going into 5th or 6th grade 2. Middle Level: 6th, 7th, or 8th grade going into 7th, 8th, or 9th grade 3. Upper Level: 9th, 10th, or 11th grade going into 10th, 11th, or 12th grade Since this is a one-time assessment or one-time study session, we will only be able to do ONE of the following; please let me know which ONE you select: Math Session: 1. In the first hour, we will work on math drills and solving problems together 2. In the second hour, the student will take a timed practice test for math, and then we will go over the answers Verbal Session 1. In the first half-hour, we will work on verbal drills for analogies 2. In the second half-hour, the student will take a timed practice test for analogies, and then we will go over the answers 3. In the third half-hour, we will work on verbal drills for synonyms 4. In the fourth half-hour, the student will take a timed practice test for synonyms, and then we will go over the answers Reading Session 1. In the first hour, we will work on reading drills and analyzing 1-2 essays together 2. In the second hour, the student will take a timed practice test for reading comprehension, and then we will go over the answers ISEE ==== The ISEE is the Independent School Entrance Examination that a student takes as a private school entrance exam. In this class, we will do practice drills and practice tests for ONE section. The ISEE has four sections of multiple choice. Please select ONE section for practice: 1. Verbal Reasoning = 20 minutes 2. Quantitative Reasoning = 35 minutes (1st math section) 3. Reading Comprehension = 35 minutes 4. Mathematics Achievement = 40 minutes (2nd math section) Six LEVELS depending on what grade your child is going into: 1. Primary Level 2: 1st grade going into 2nd grade 2. Primary Level 3: 2nd grade going into 3rd grade 3. Primary Level 4: 3rd grade going into 4th grade 4. Lower Level: 4th or 5th grade going into 5th or 6th grade 5. Middle Level: 6th, 7th, or 8th grade going into 7th, 8th, or 9th grade 6. “Kahoot! is a global learning platform company. Kahoot! games can be played anywhere, in person or virtually, using any device with an internet connection.” A Kahoot! game is a quiz with multiple choice answers and the games include topics such as Year End Math Assessment. Kahoot! is a fun way to test a student's knowledge of a math topic such as adding fractions, multiplying decimals, solving for area of a rectangle.
Kahoot! app is free and does not require an account. The teacher provides the website link (http://www.kahoot.it) and a game pin then the student creates a silly screen name; thus, no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Kahoot!
“Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Khan Academy is also a free app and for this class will not require an account. The teacher will share screen of quiz questions, so no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Khan Academy.
