I will provide information sheets about the grammar and vocabulary we cover in class. The students can refer to these sheets in class and when doing homework.Assessment
Each Cycle a short written report will be provided and the students will be assessed on their knowledge using the Communicating in World Languages document.Class Experience
The Club français class covers the Speaking and Listening and Cultural components of the French 1 qualification. This class will run alongside the Club français and will cover the grammar, reading and writing components. I will access students across both classes., This class will have an end of Cycle Project, where students will present a written and spoken component on an agreed topic. It is also suitable for the first year of French GCSE (no external exam). I have taught a French 1 course for 2 years for an American online school with Outschool. The students reached French 1 standard and above. Week 1. Homework: Find 5 new masculine nouns and 5 new feminine nouns. Use the adjectives provided to form a descriptive sentence for your new nouns in the singular and plural forms. Week 2. Present your new nouns to the class. Complete the written task for homework. Week 3. Read your descriptions to the class. Homework - add to the story with scaffolded sentences. Week 4. Read your extended stories to the class. Homework - write a description of one masculine person or pet and one feminine person or pet. Week 5. Read your descriptions to the class. Homework - Add to the descriptions of your person and pet, using the avoir phrases we have done today. Week 6. Present your Project story to the class. Review the Regular -er verbs, avoir and être in the present tense and genders in French. Games if time!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to communicate with native French speakers. They will be able to talk about themselves. They will be able to understand native French speakers speaking at a steady pace.
Students will also learn how to complete short writing tasks, such as writing postcards and text messages.

Genders and persons in French.
We will look at the genders in French and how it affects nouns and adjectives.
Introduce ourselves and use adjectives to describe ourselves. Note how the adjectives change with gender and number.
There will be a short reading and writing activity to do in class.

Lesson 2:
Genders of nouns. Descriptions of people.
Present your new nouns to the class.
Reading task - We will read some descriptions of people and answer questions.
Writing task - Write a short description of yourself to send to a French Penpal.

Lesson 3:
Persons of verbs in French. Regular -er verbs.
Read your descriptions to the class.
How French verbs work. What is 1st, 2nd and 3 person singular and plural. Special emphasis on the use of 'tu' and 'vous'.
Regular verbs in the present tense. We will look at the regular -er verbs and how they work in the present tense.
Fill in the correct form of the verb.
Read a simple story together.
Discussion of Project for this Cycle.

More practice of regular -er verbs in the present tense.
Using être in the present tense to describe other people, using the adjectives we learned in Week 1.

Learning Needs
I have experience of teaching students with a range of learning needs and physical needs, such as ASD, cerebral palsy etc. I will make necessary adjustments, such as supplying additional processing time. I can differentiate worksheets also.
Pre-Requisites
This course is not suitable for absolute beginners, due to the pace of the class and the content.

I am a French graduate and qualified teacher (B.A. Honours in French and English, PGCE in Secondary French and Elementary school subjects with French). I have lived and worked in France and have taught French at all levels of school (Elementary to High School, including exam classes).
I have current experience of teaching French 1 and French 2 online with Outschool. I have also lived and worked in France and the French speaking part of Belgium. I spend 2-3 months at our holiday home in France each year to maintain my language skills.
