Homework
1 hour per week. Students are encouraged to write a paragraph based on the topic taught that day in class.
Assessment
Students will be informally assessed on their writing skills with feedback from the teacher.

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Elementary students will develop three types of paragraphs in this class.  

The teacher will start each lesson with a video on the topic followed by reading examples paragraphs. Student will then get a chance to construct a paragraph aided by the teacher before writing their own paragraphs.  The three types of essays included are: 

Opinion: Students will share their opinion on a topic using logical support. 
Narrative: Students will create a story using sensory details 
Summary: Students will read on a topic and then summarize the information.  

Students receive feedback on their writing immediately.  

The teacher accesses students' needs throughout the class and offers differentiated instruction when necessary.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to write a paragraph giving information with supporting details.
Students will be able to write a paragraph where they make a claim and give supporting evidence
Students will be able to explain in an organized way how to do something.  
Students will increase reading and writing skills.
