In this one-time class, students will learn how to identify and eliminate run-on sentences.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5

Intermediate - Advanced Level

This one day class will help a common problem young readers have - the dreaded run-on sentence. Often young writers tend to put two sentences together or join sentences with commas.  In this class, students will overcome this tendency through watching a video, practicing writing sentences based on a prompt and finally reviewing with IXL lessons.  By the time this class ends, students will be more aware of run-on sentences and how to eliminate them. They will also have a better understanding...

Students will learn how to write simple and complex sentences.
Students will be able to identify run-on sentences.
Students will be able to fix run-on sentences. 
Students will learn how to avoid run-on sentences.

I have a BFA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Elementary Education.

Students will be given a google doc to work with, so will not need a paper and pencil though one should be nearby due to any unforeseen technical issues.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:IXL Learning
Youtube
Google Docs

Students will write a response to a writing sample and the teacher will evaluate it for an run-on sentences.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Both IXL Learning and YouTube will be used in screen share.
