US Grade 6 - 9
This class is designed to review / introduce learners to vocabulary that is a large part of science, history, mathematics, and literature classes. This vocabulary is also frequently encountered on academic testing material such as the ACT and SAT. The overall focus of this class will be for the learner to build a stronger and larger usable set of academic vocabulary. Every week, we will focus in on 10 new terms. Students will learn the pronunciation, etymology, part of speech, and several synonyms. They will review and/or create definitions as well as work on sentence creation. These words will need to be reinforced and learned at home also in order to acquire a deeper understanding of their meaning and proper usage. One prefix and one suffix will also be covered in these lessons each week. Learners will be able to practice their vocabulary building skills using several differentiated steps. Worksheet completion and Quizlet lessons will also be provided for the students every week. Quizlet provides interactive vocabulary learning through flashcards and captivating games. ____________________________ Please note that I do not share video recordings of the lessons.

I love to spend time with my family, especially with my three grown children and their families. I like to cook and bake (gluten free and allergy friendly meals), take walks, and explore nature. I also read a lot! That’s definitely a super important part of my life. I spend time working in our native plant garden, I take care of our organic vegetable gardens, raise Monarch butterflies in the summer, and go on walks with my dog Juniper.
I am proud to have the opportunity to teach on the Outschool platform and to work with your learner. Please consider joining my classroom soon!
