This weekly class will implement guided practice to learn 10 high-level SAT / ACT words and a set of affixes that are encountered in specific content areas and on high-stakes tests. (This class is the same as Adrian Sydor's course.)

This class is designed to review / introduce learners to vocabulary that is a large part of science, history, mathematics, and literature classes. This vocabulary is also frequently encountered on academic testing material such as the ACT and SAT. The goal of this class will be to increase, and strengthen, the learner’s knowledge of academic vocabulary found on high-stakes tests such as on the ACT and SAT exams.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned weekly homework. They will need to study the vocabulary words, be able to define them, and use them in sentences. They will also be required to complete a worksheet that will reinforce their understanding of the words. Quizlet.com may be used to practice the vocabulary.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Student progress is assessed by a learner’s ability to understand the meaning of a word, use it in a sentence, and be able to explain the meaning to others.Grades Offered
