Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
The goal of this class will be to increase, and strengthen, the learner’s knowledge of academic vocabulary found on high-stakes tests such as on the ACT and SAT exams.
Students will be assigned weekly homework. They will need to study the vocabulary words, be able to define them, and use them in sentences. They will also be required to complete a worksheet that will reinforce their understanding of the words. Quizlet.com may be used to practice the vocabulary.
Students should come to class with paper (provided worksheets or a notebook) and a pencil.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student progress is assessed by a learner’s ability to understand the meaning of a word, use it in a sentence, and be able to explain the meaning to others.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Quizlet.com may be used to reinforce vocabulary knowledge. (You may sign up for free account.)
