If you are looking for academic support in phonics, early reading, reading, or writing skills, you have come to the right place! Our sessions will be tailored to the individual needs of the student. As such, the topics covered and the structure of our sessions can be adapted to meet the academic needs or interests of each individual student. Depending on student needs, we can work on phonics and phonemic awareness, syllable types and syllable division rules, or fluency practice. We can also dive into reading comprehension skills and strategies to improve those skills. Alternatively, if your child needs help working through a reading or writing assignment from school, I can offer that assistance. My teaching style is to place the heavy-lifting learning tasks on the students. To achieve that, I start by presenting a skill or concept and then model that skill or concept. Then, I get the student to practice the skill or concept through various tasks, drills, or games.
Learning Goals
Students will increase their encoding and decoding skills (the ability to sound out words), vocabulary skills, spelling, and comprehension skills.
