Description
Class Experience
In this multi-day one-on-one class, students will learn about abstract photography. What is it? What makes something abstract? How do you know what to photograph? How can editing enhance an image? We'll cover the basics, and we will practice a few different ways of creating abstract images. *This class is geared toward smartphone cameras, but the lessons can be adjusted for DSLR cameras. Please let me know if you'll be using a DSLR!* For those learners who will use smartphone cameras,...
Lesson #1: camera, black or white sheet of paper or cloth to use as a backdrop, and various items from around the house (to be selected during class) Lesson #2: camera, foil, colored tissue paper (preferably vivid colors), colored paper, small light source (flashlight, camp light, desk lamp, etc), and markers Lesson #3: camera, 8x10 piece of clear glass (such as glass from a picture frame), Rain-X or similar water repellent spray, tablet/iPad with wifi and web browsing capabilities, two large jars or cans or equal height, eye dropper/medicine dropper, cup of water, and paper towels
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will use Snapseed (a free photo editing app) and Unsplash.com during our classes. Unsplash.com will be used during Lesson #3. We will only use it to search for patterns. I have not encountered any inappropriate images while searching for patterns. Neither of these sources require an account, and both are completely free.
