What do you get when you combine foil, lighting, and a camera? A really cool picture! How about adding some food coloring, a glass of water, and some cookie cutters?? In this class, students will briefly review the basics of abstract photography and will create their own abstract photos using items commonly found in the kitchen. I will demonstrate what will be created during class, and I will give guidance as the students set up their work areas and take their photos. After shooting our images, we will edit them together using Snapseed (a FREE app) to create striking works of art. All types of cameras are welcome in this class, but a smartphone would be best so that we can edit together using Snapseed. *We will be using food coloring, so I highly recommend wearing old clothing or an apron. Also, please cover your work surface to protect it from being stained. Our activity shouldn't be too messy, but I would take precautions anyway.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about abstract photography and will practice photography basics such as lighting and editing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Veronica Lorine, and I LOVE the arts! Before having a family of my own, I taught elementary music. After resigning, I volunteered my time teaching music at a local preschool. I also became more involved with crafting and photography. On occasion, I teach a music class at a local special needs academy. I also spend a LOT of time with photography.
I've expanded my portfolio and have been able to focus on more specialized photography. Macro, abstract, and night photography are my passions. I've received recognition for several of my photos, and I hope to continue doing so. I also have a "mystery macro" Facebook group that keeps my brain sharp.
If you'd like to see my current portfolio (which is constantly changing), visit my website at: https://vlorine.wixsite.com/vlorine
I also occasionally post images to my Instagram account (v.lorine.photography).
Besides the arts, I also enjoy traveling (far away from the SE Texas heat and humidity!), camping, hiking, and playing games with my family.
I believe in trying new things and experimenting with different ideas. I also believe that you should never compare yourself to anyone else. Be creative, be unique, be yourself, and HAVE FUN!
The only person you should try to be better than is who you were yesterday. – Unknown
