Abstract Design Summer Camp

During this three day camp students will create an abstract work of art using line, shape, and pattern while learning to layer colored pencils to create intermediate colors that complement their abstract design.

Class Experience

Students will observe, recognize, and demonstrate how lines and shapes can create an abstract design.
Students will observe, recognize, and demonstrate how pattern can enhance an abstract design.
Students will observe and demonstrate mixing tertiary colors using primary and secondary colored pencils.
Students will observe, recognize, and demonstrate how negative space can enhance a design.

I am a certified K-12 Art Educator in Pennsylvania.  I taught for 14 years in the Pennsylvania public schools and am currently a substitute teacher in the Pennsylvania public schools.  I enjoy teaching both Elementary and High School Art.  I love to share my knowledge of different mediums with my students and see their awe and wonder when their pencil (or brush) touches the paper.  I teach a variety of mediums and styles of Art but my favorites are drawing, ceramics and printmaking.  
Homework will be assigned as needed for completion of a task in order to be prepared for the next lesson.

Lesson One- -Color Me Abstract Worksheet and Abstract Art Worksheet (Printed before class). -Pencil -Eraser -one die Lesson Two- -Pattern Worksheet (printed before class) -Color Me Abstract Worksheet from Lesson One. -Pencil -Eraser -one die -Extra (or Ultra) Fine Tip Sharpie or Micron Pen (the marker needs to be able to do very detailed work) Lesson Three -Advanced Color Wheel Worksheet (printed before class) -Color Me Abstract worksheet from Lesson One -Colored Pencils- must have red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, white, and black. -1 piece of colored construction paper (their choice) (Can be Crayola, but if you wish to invest in a good set of colored pencils Prisma Colors are superior. Price on Amazon is around $17 for a set of 24 colors)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
