Class Experience

This 4-day boot camp provides a great, fast-paced overview for learners with no experience with the piano. Since this is a private format, learners will be provided an abundance of individualized attention and feedback! By the end of each class learners will have learned and practiced fundamental keyboard concepts and skills.

Learners do not need any piano experience. They should be set up at a keyboard so that I can see their hands and the keys and hear them well.

Day 1:
Finger numbers, notes of Middle C position on the piano and on the bass and treble clefs, high and low sounds on the keyboard. We will begin playing a short song together.

Day 2:
Measures, the grand staff, quarter notes, half notes and respective rests, 4/4 time and repeat signs. We will continue our short song together.

Day 3:
For learners who need more review, we will continue to review Middle C position. We'll also review quarter notes, half notes and respective rests, 4/4 time and repeat signs. We will continue our short song together or move on to another song.

For learners ready to move on we will learn the notes of C Position, dotted-half and whole notes and respective rests, skips and steps, ties and 3/4 time. We will continue our short song together or move on to another song.

Day 4:
For learners who need more review, we will review Middle C position and other concepts previously learned with the addition of piano, forte and mezzo forte dynamic levels. We will review any songs we have practiced together.

For learners ready to move on we will review C position and other concepts previously learned with the addition of piano, forte and mezzo forte dynamic levels. We will review any songs we have practiced together.

Please note that this is a fun, fast-paced course!

If time permits we will finish classes with interactive games reinforcing the topics reviewed.

I will use fun, colorful PDF's to introduce each concept and skill. No additional piano repertoire book is needed. I will demonstrate each concept and technique.

Learners will be provided printable PDF worksheets for at-home review. They are set in color but can easily be printed in black and white.

-Learner Verification-
As a gentle reminder, as per Outschool’s policies I must be able to visually identify that the learner is a child between 3-18 years old in order to allow them to participate in the class. If you and your learner do not have the video capability to verify identity or do not want to enable video in the class for the identity confirmation, please reach out to me for other alternative approaches.

Please also note that I can only admit students into the class with matching names to my roster. Please ensure that the name on your device matches the name on the roster. You may be asked to log out and rejoin the classroom with the correct name.

-Security-
As per Outschool policies, I cannot share any Zoom codes to enter the classroom. Please only use the green button in the classroom to join class on the Outschool platform.

-Refund Policy-
All Multi-Day classes have a Limited refund policy: Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase (until class starts).
