In this 9-week series of online, pre-recorded video flex classes, students will learn about a variety of topics in music theory, such as pitch and tempo; these online music classes also contain a general focus on teaching melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic dictation, with a narrowed focus on topics such as double sharps, double flats, simple and compound time signatures, triads and the chromatic scale, all taught in preparation for the ABRSM Grade 4 exam by the Music & Language Learning Center by Kristine Dizon.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 (𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝)
Learners will learn about the differences between simple and compound time signatures.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐟
The alto clef will be introduced to the learners through a series of exercises and games.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐬
Learners will learn about how double sharps and double flats are used in music through a variety of games and exercises.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬
Double dotted rhythms will be introduced in this lesson and where do we find them in music.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
𝐊𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐬
Learners will continue to develop their knowledge about scales and their respective intervallic names.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫-𝐁𝐚𝐫 𝐑𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐬
Learners will be introduced to four-bar rhythms in this class where they will compose different rhythms for one another.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐈, 𝐈𝐕, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕
Triads and chords on I, IV, and V will be introduced along with different listening exercises that will be introduced in this lesson.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐬 & 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞
Learners will be introduced to the intervals of the diatonic scale and in how to identify these intervals. The chromatic scale will also be taught. Learners will have a chance to play parts of the scales using a program provided by the instructor.
 Week 9
Lesson 9
𝐎𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬;𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬;𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭ion
Learners will develop their knowledge about musical ornaments, different families of instruments in an orchestra, and how performance directions are used. Assignments will be due two days prior to the scheduled meeting to allow the instructor to provide timely feedback to the learner via the Outschool classroom. The assignments are designed to help reinforce the topics learned in each session. While it is recommended to purchase the textbook, the teacher will provide all the materials needed for
