Beginner Level
During each 75 minute class students will recap what they learned last time and perform the tricks they know and then learn 2 new magic tricks. The magic is broken down into easy-to-understand pieces with clear instruction. To foster confidence, class one is all about success. Students will learn 3 self-working magic tricks that will fool friends and family and encourage them to be able to focus on the presentation of the magic instead of the workings of it. We will then introduce sleight-of-hand with some easy to master moves geared toward ages 7-12. We will craft some of our own effects out of cards, paper, and clothespins. They will have a challenge to make up and present their own routine for a trick with a popsicle stick. Throughout the course, students learn how to perform over a dozen tricks with everyday objects.
Learning Goals
Increased self-confidence: I have personally seen children who previously hid behind their parents, standing on stage in front of 50 strangers confidently doing magic.
Foster Perseverance: Learning magic tricks can be challenging, and children may need to practice repeatedly before mastering a trick. This teaches them the value of perseverance and practice in achieving their goals.
