Class Experience

Students will watch a PowerPoint Slideshow about Russian born artist Marc Chagall. They will view Marc Chagall's bright colored artwork filled with images of reallity, imagination and dreams. We will look at his artwork and discuss the rooftop violinist, the upside down floating people and the many animals featured in his art. I will explain to the students to look for the whimsical elements in his art, that make his paintings feel dreamlike. I will then direct the students to do a directive draw of a rooster (an animal often featured in Chagall's paintings). We will use bright colors for the feathers and whimsical details of the rooster.
