40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Learning how to sign the English alphabet in ASL has many benefits. For young students, it helps cement these new letter formations in a 3-dimensional, tactile mode, begin to open pathways for future secondary language acquisition and if course, help facilitate communication with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Many sign language classes will begin with an assumed prerequisite of students already familiar with the signed alphabet. This 40 minute class will cover the alphabet, how to sign the well-known alphabet song and how fingerspell their own name as time permits. I will be demonstrating the letters, correcting any unreadable or incorrect hand positions.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the proper handshape and position for the alphabet.

External Resources

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! You've heard the proverbial saying, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for the day. Teach a man to fish, he'll never go hungry again." The conveyance of knowledge from one person to another can not be understated. It is paramount to accomplishing whatever goals a person may have in life, however big or small. It's how we learn how to live within our family, learn how to improve and enjoy our hobbies, learn how to later become productive members of our community and all the while, imparting that knowledge on others around us. I enjoy teaching Logic, Christian Apologetics and Sign Language. I have a Bachelors degree in Business but my real vocation is working with students of all ages. I have been volunteer teaching since 2011 (as a homeschool mom and annual co-op teacher), working as an ESL online teacher since 2018 and working part-time as a Sign Language Interpreter since 2008. I'm excited to meet new students and grow in relationship with current and former students!
