US Grade Preschool - 1
What will be taught: This class covers early literacy and math skills including letter recognition, phonics, handwriting, number sense, counting, patterns, and basic addition/subtraction—perfect for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade learners. What topics will you cover: We’ll explore the alphabet (letter names and sounds), sight words, early reading strategies, number identification, counting, comparing quantities, simple math problems, and more—tailored to your child’s level and needs. How is your class structured: Each one-on-one session is 25–30 minutes and follows a predictable but engaging routine: half of the time will be focused on learning letters and the second half will be focused on learning numbers. We will often use short related games. How will you teach: I use a mix of hands-on activities, interactive slides, games, and visuals to keep young learners engaged. Every lesson is customized based on your child’s age, strengths, and learning goals. What’s your teaching style: My style is upbeat, supportive, and confidence-building. I meet students where they are, celebrate progress, and adjust my teaching in real-time to match their energy and needs. Learning should feel fun and safe! How much will learners get to interact with you: Learners interact with me the whole time—this is a one-on-one class, so we’ll be talking, playing games, answering questions, using slides together, and celebrating small wins throughout every session. No long lectures—just lots of back-and-forth learning!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from University Of Missouri St. Louis
I have extensive experience teaching students how to read and write, including working with children with unique needs. Over the years, I've taught as a long-term substitute teacher, a teacher’s aide, and as a tutor, where I supported students in developing their literacy skills. In these roles, I worked with a diverse group of learners, tailoring my approach to meet each student's individual needs.
Additionally, as a parent of three children whom I homeschool, I’ve had the opportunity to teach them how to read and write, giving me practical, hands-on experience in guiding children through the early stages of literacy. This blend of professional teaching experience and personal experience with my own children has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and joys of teaching reading and writing.
I bring a patient, flexible approach to teaching, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to thrive at their own pace. Whether working with a group or one-on-one, I focus on building confidence and helping students feel successful in their learning journey.
