US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Beginner - Advanced Level
This course is designed to help young children learn the basic strokes used for printing letters and numerals. Students will follow instructions on how to hold and manipulate a writing instrument. Students will become familiar with direction and position words such as top, middle, bottom, below, above, down, up, left, and right. In this class, students listen and follow instructions as they learn how to print the letters of the alphabet. At the beginning of each class, students will have the opportunity to write their names in correct manuscript form. Approximately 15 minutes will be guided practice as students learn the different strokes that makeup manuscript letters. This teacher-directed activity reinforces the student's eye-hand coordination. Approximately 10 minutes will allow students to use their writing and drawing skills creatively. I have a flexible teaching style that encourages creativity; however, in this particular class, I will expect students to follow explicit instructions when forming the letters. Parental Guidance
I will be using Google Slides in this class to demonstrate how to form letters. We will also use Google slides as reinforcement. Parents do not need to have an account for Google Slides.
Supply List
If lined paper is not available to you, we can improvise by having your child draw the headline, midline, and baseline. You may want to make a ruler available to your child as a straight edge to draw the lines. At times, a white board will be utilized to practice letter writing. Students may also use crayons, markers and pencils. Please have your child use a soft-lead pencil so that their writing can be seen on-camera clearly.
