Assessment
There will be an initial assessment of student alphabet sound knowledge as well as pre-reading skills such as listening to a word and repeating the first sound. A shortened version of this assessment will periodically be repeated to ensure students are retaining newly learned skills.Class Experience
US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
This class will follow the research-based Orton-Gillingham approach (structured, multisensory method for teaching literacy skills, particularly reading, writing, and spelling). The first session will assess what students know and lessons will be tailored to meet the specific needs of each learner, allowing for flexibility and adaptation based on individual strengths and challenges. Students will be taught multi-sensory and engaging approaches such as tapping sounds, singing songs, air writing, movements for specific letter sounds, etc.
Learning Goals
Students will improve on their identification of letter sounds and begin blending sounds to read and spell basic words.

This class is designed to support unique learning needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD.
Supply List
It would be helpful (although not required) for students to have a small dry erase board with dry erase marker and an eraser (could be an old sock or a paper towel).
