Materials required: Soroban - Japanese abacus. The link below is an example of the abacus which can be used for purchase. https://a.co/d/cgDvl4J What will be taught? In this course students will learn the basics of Abacus Mental Math and will be able to practice addition and subtraction of single, - double, -three- digit math problems on the abacus. How is this class structured? Each week includes: ---Video lesson that equips the student with a skill for the following week. It is good to watch the video more than once- the more, the better. ---Video exercise which has to be done 3-4 times during the week. ---Worksheet for practicing during the week. It is very important to follow all the instructions of the teacher listed in the Parents' Guide section. If the student finishes the worksheet, print it out again and have them repeat the practice for better understanding. The course and homework is definitely a fun and hands on way of math and doesn't require a lot of writing. This course is a required foundational course for further self-paced courses of Abacus Mental Math that will be published in the near future as well.

I keep it as a priority in my teaching to help kids to enjoy learning and gain more confidence in themselves. It’s so important as they grow not to be afraid to learn new things but to thrive in it!
As kids learn Abacus math through various activities they not only gain a better number sense but also their memory, critical thinking, concentration develop so well that it improves their academic performance in other areas as well. Doing mental arithmetic involves both hemispheres of the brain at the same time! It's amazing to see the results even after 5 or 6 classes of Abacus Mental Arithmetic.
Along with that I love having fun in a smart way, so I also implement such fun thing in my classes as Magic Snake, which is a logic puzzle to make different patterns and shapes with. Kids love it and we even organize competitions, challenges and other group activities with our favorite toy!
