I will show and explain how to make a simple chocolate cake with a chocolate glaze, step by step. I will teach my class live by sharing a muted video of me baking, on which I will make comments and explanations. Students will learn how to measure and mix ingredients, how to prepare a baking pan for baking. I will instruct and show students how to put the cake in the oven. While the cake will be in the oven, I will show how to cut an already pre-baked cake in two layers and how to decorate the cake with berries. Students can choose to keep their cake simple and one-layered or make their cake a bit more complex and two-layered. I will teach how to make a chocolate glaze and I will show how to check if the cake is done. Students will learn how to pour the glaze on the cake and will see the ready-made cake. I will give students instructions on when to take their cakes out of the oven.

Warning! Students will use an oven. Will be asked to open an oven. Your child will use a stove-top and a frying pan.
Supply List
Cooking utensils: a measuring cup, measuring tablespoon, measuring teaspoon, 8" square or round 9" baking pan, a frying pan (approximately 8" in diameter), mixing bowl, mixing spoon, oven mittens, toothpick or butter knife. Food ingredients: flour, unsweetened cocoa, sugar, baking soda, salt, white vinegar, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, water, semi-sweet chocolate chips. A hand full of fresh raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries, a seedless raspberry or strawberry jam, and dental floss (this is optional).
