Class experience
US Grade 4 - 7
CS Lewis and his Chronicles of Narnia have delighted both children and adults for more than 70 years. Join me for this ongoing study as we experience the incredible adventures of Aslan's Narnia. This class combines all of my individual Narnia book studies into one ongoing class to make it easier for parents to schedule their learner's literature studies, while still giving them great flexibility. It provides scheduling stability with classes meeting at the same day/time throughout the...

Homework Offered
Students will be expected to read (or listen via audiobook) each book, using a study guide to prepare for class discussion. There may be occasional worksheets to complete outside of class to reinforce vocabulary or other literary elements.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Learners are expected to have access to their own copies of each book from The Chronicles of Narnia. These can be in print, digital, or audio format.
There will be no external sites accessed by students in this class. All visual presentations, such as powerpoint slides, will be provided by the teacher via standard screen-share. The overarching theme of the Narnia stories is the triumph of good over evil and the importance of friendship and sacrifice. There is hopefulness throughout, but dark elements do exist. The various stories may contains elements of deception and misuse of power. There are occasional descriptions of battle scenes, death, and menacing creatures. Parents are encouraged to verify that the books are suitable for their learners. I welcome any messages with questions or concerns. NOTE: In accordance with Outschool policy, we will not be specifically examining any biblical allusions or allegories found in the work, outside of a general acknowledgement that Lewis' personal faith often informed his writing. This will be noted as a point of literary interest rather than an examination of the theology behind the allusions.
