This is the fourth session of a FLEXIBLE SCHEDULED Project Based Middle School Ancient History course. There are NO live meetings for this class. Pre-recorded powerpoint lectures and prerecorded project assignments will all be posted in the classroom, along with critical thinking questions, discussion questions, links to videos, and links to interactive learning experiences. AFRICA Dough Map of Africa: Play dough or salt dough in green, blue, & tan, toothpicks, paper, scissors, glue stick (for labels) printed map cardboard for platform Kush Pottery Air Dry Terra Cotta Clay African Rock Art A few collected plain rocks Air Dry Terra Cotta Clay Pain that can be used on the rocks (or paint pens) clay tool to etch design in clay INDIA Terra Cotta Clay Mandala Materials: Either colored sand, dried flowers or herbs which can be purchased at an herb shop or online, markers, or gathered materials of various colors such as rocks, leaves, etc. (This is maker style, so kids can be creative) Indian Elephant Art: Materials of choice- Either watercolor and waterproof black pen, markers, acrylics, colored pencils, or pastels. CHINA Salt dough or play dough for Map Materials of choice for the model of an Ancient Chinese Village (Lego, clay, play dough, craft paper, outdoor materials like grasses and rocks, etc) Materials of choice for the Great Wall of China (Legos, clay, blocks)
Learners will be assessed through their completed work and through participation in posted forum discussion.
