I love history, I feel that it is very important to know as much about history as possible. I have written this curriculum and have taught it in an after school settings many times and last summer in a summer camp setting. I have taught k-8th grade and teaching history is my favorite! To get kids excited to learn history fills my bucket! I am particularly sensitive to kids and topics and respectful of families and what they may or may not want their kids to know or learn. I believe some topics should be taught by the parent in order to ensure the message is taught to the parent's approval.

I will be addressing Hitler throughout this lesson but I will not approach the concentration camps and the Holocaust. I feel like this is an incredibly dark part of our history and should be taught by the parents first and I do not know what each learner knows and so out of respect for families, I refrain from teaching learners this age about the camps. I will slightly mention the Nanking Massacre with no details or visual aids. It is only mentioned during the Sino-Japanese War section. I mention Kamikaze warfare, again briefly, with respect and noted as a type of warfare Japan did partake in at various times during the war. I have videos of most of the battles, however I chose videos that were focused on the facts and not on the carnage of battle.
