US Grade 1 - 4
Help Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose solve mysteries from A to Z! In this engaging book club for learners ages 6 - 10, We will meet once a week to discuss the A to Z Mysteries book of the week. Each of these books stands alone, so students have the flexibility to join for one class or stay for as many as they would like! All reading is done outside of class BEFORE the discussion. This allows us to have the full class time to discuss the book and participate in fun activities related to the book. For example, in class one we will discuss The Absent Author. Students will share their favorite part of the book. We will discuss the excitement of meeting famous author Wallis Wallace, and share about famous people that we have met or would like to meet. A big clue in the Absent Author is the signature left at the hotel, so we will discuss matching handwriting and compare handwriting samples. We will make a suspect board to compare the likelihood of different characters in the book being the kidnapper. Class Schedule: September 3: The Empty Envelope September 10: The Falcon's Feathers September 17: The Goose's Gold September 24: The Haunted Hotel October 1: The Invisible Island October 8: ***No Class*** October 15: The Jaguar's Jewel October 22: The Kidnapped King October 29: The Lucky Lottery

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Fairhaven Baptist College
Hello! I have been teaching for over seventeen years, and I love teaching music, drama, English grammar and writing. My hobbies are cooking and reading, and I am thrilled to be able to teach in these areas as well.
I have taught in two private schools and in a private college as well. My experience has ranged from primary classroom teacher, to administration, to private tutoring and everything in between!
Besides the title of "teacher," I am blessed to hold the title of "mom." My husband and I have four boys that keep us super busy. We love to explore, hike, try new restaurants and travel. Our family's favorite vacation spot to date is Colorado. We absolutely love Rocky Mountain National Park.
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education, and I have taught English 101, Business Communication, Speech, Home Economics, Spanish, private piano and flute lessons, and English as a second language to children in China. I have tutored in Grammar and Math as well. I have also completed The Dale Carnegie Training course and completed a TESOL Certification.
Most recently, I taught English at a college level, and especially enjoyed focusing on journal writing. My passion for reading and my love of books has led me to organize and lead several community adult book clubs over the past 7 summers. I look forward to translating this fun book club format to my Outschool students at an elementary level!
I love to make learning FUN! I love to learn something new everyday, and I try to pass that love for learning on to my students.
