The class will begin with introductions. I will read a story called The Man Who Walked Between the Towers. This true story describes the adventure of a tightrope walker who walked between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center as they were being built. I am a certified teacher for elementary grades 1-6 and deaf/HH PreK-12. I have taught young children for many years and worked as an educational interpreter for deaf students K-12 as well. My BAS degree certifies me in all core academic subjects, including reading, math, social studies, and science. Additionally, I served on committees studying state and national standards for reading and social studies.

I will focus on this true adventure story that occurred during the building of the World Trade Center. If questions or comments arise regarding details of September 11th, I will briefly and truthfully, in an age-appropriate manner, respond. If the discussion looks like it will become more than appropriate for an online class, I will suggest they talk with their families about their questions.
