This class will give your learner a taste of the Spanish language. This is a beginners class. No previous knowledge of Spanish is needed, just curiosity! Learning a new language can be daunting for some learners, so this class will be taught in English and 5 basic Spanish greetings will be introduced (see exact list of greetings in the learning goals tab below). This is so as not to overwhelm learners during their first Spanish class. I am also limiting the number of students in this...
Students will be introduced to the following Spanish greetings: hello, good morning, good afternoon, good night and goodbye. Learners will practice their new vocabulary in class through games, repetition and other activities.
I am a native Spanish speaker. I lived in Mexico for a good portion of my childhood, and later returned as an adult. I began learning a second language myself, when I was 8 years old. My unique perspective with learning another language as a child is something that you will see reflected in my classes. I understand the child's perspective, and strive to make them feel comfortable and at ease during the learning process. My teaching style focuses on nurturing the learners curiosity so that the student will be excited about learning. I have received specialized interpreting/translating training, and worked for the Colorado School District as a Language Facilitator for some years. I have also been actively involved as a volunteer in an educational program for the Spanish community in Mexico and the United States. I look forward to seeing your learner in my classroom!
No homework will be assigned, but students are encouraged to practice what they learned in class and share with their family.
Learners will need a second device to use during an interactive portion of the class. Please have a tablet or phone as a second device with the following website open: Kahoot.it. This way, your learner will enjoy the class fully and participate in the interactive segments of the lesson.
25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
