Class Experience
*** Please read carefully before signing up. ** This is a flexible option course, so there will be no live meetings. Learners must be able to chop and use basic kitchen appliances such as a mixer/blender. The dishes are either made on the stove or the oven, so please make sure your learner is either supervised or aware of fire safety rules. Please check with me if you have allergy concerns. Come join me in my kitchen as we explore the different tastes and flavors of India. Each week, we will cook a different meal together, as I take you step by step through the process of cooking each dish. Indian food has rich flavor and utilizes a variety of different spices and ingredients. A list of ingredients for each dish will be sent in advance to give the learner an opportunity to gather these. I will also send some tips for prepping ingredients for multiple dishes at once, as a lot of them overlap. Each dish is naturally gluten free and will have a vegan option. Vegan substitution options will be given in the ingredient list and discussed during the videos. I will send detailed recipes and descriptions at the beginning of each week. Learners are encouraged to adjust the ingredients and spices as needed in their food. Supporting videos will also be posted to give learners an idea about the cooking process. Here is a weekly breakdown of the meals we will make: Week 1: Chickpea(Chole) Masala and Basmati Rice Week 2: Dosa(Rice and lentil crepe) and potato saag Week 3: Vegetable Biryani Week 4: Chicken or Tofu Tikka Masla and Basmati Rice Every Monday: I will post a video of the cooking process. Wednesday: Learners will check in and post about their progress(grocery shopping, prep work, etc) By Friday: Learners will post pictures or videos of their final dishes or prepping process in the classroom and flipgrid, and tell us about their experience I will also have a live help session once during each week, that you can sign up for, where learners can pop in and ask questions or share their successes with cooking. This is completely optional.
