Class Experience

My love of ancient literature, particularly Homer, combined with my extensive experience teaching close textual analysis to middle and high school students, as a teacher, tutor, and to my own children as a homeschooling father have uniquely prepared me to teach this course. Because of my varied academic background, my English and history teaching certifications, my study of Latin and Greek (I was a member of the Eta Sigma Phi society), my undergraduate work in history and Philosophy with an emphasis on ancient languages and my graduate work in English Literature, I am particularly qualified to teach students about the important and varied aspects of this text.
Students will need to purchase a copy of Homer’s Iliad. The information on the exact addition will be provided upon enrollment in the class.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
