In this one-time Christmas special class, the engaging Story Fairy will take your little Story Explorer on an imaginative, interactive adventure to explore a version of the Christmas classic story 'The Nutcracker and the king of mice' by E.T.A Hoffman. We'll meet Clara and Fritz as they excitedly prepare for their guests on Christmas eve, and pretend to help them decorate the house and make sweet treats. We'll pretend to be the Uncle's gifts of three different types of wind-up dolls (rag, ballerina, and soldier) and think about how they move in very different ways. We'll help Clara save her Nutcracker from the mice, visit the Snow Queen in her forest, and go to see the Sugarplum Fairy in 'The land of the sweets', getting to talk about our favourite sweets along the way. There will be some lovely green screen backgrounds, bubble snow, and other surprises to help the story come to life, as well as the Story Fairy encouraging learners to pretend to be characters, and join in with their actions in the story. As this class is non-scripted storytelling and led by an experienced T.I.E actress, presenter, storyteller, and teacher, it can be adapted live on the spot to cater to learners' needs on that day. 'With a flick of my wand and a wave of my hand, let's take a journey to Storyland' **I love teaching on Outschool and fully prepare to be ready to teach every class I offer. So classes will go ahead whether they are full, half full, quarter full, or have just one learner (who gets the benefit of a one-to-one lesson for a fraction of the cost)!**
Learning Goals
This is a fun way to start to introduce some simple acting skills and key concepts like building confidence and self-esteem, talking about emotions, introducing gross and fine motor skills, and dropping in key elements along the way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Southampton
I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16.
As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way.
I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos and have a regular podcast.
I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
I am a Mum of two young kids myself too and in fact, that is how the 'Story Fairy' was born!
