Welcome to A Stitch in Time Sewing Club! Where aspiring sewers and designers gather together to hang out, practice sewing, and exchange tips and ideas. Sewing has several benefits. There are educational ones like developing hand-eye coordination, improving concentration and control, learning how to follow steps, and helping with dexterity. There are also personal benefits like focusing attention, socialization, and personal accomplishment of artistic expression. And it's fun! This ongoing,...
Students will: -be able to practice hand-eye coordination. -be able to practice concentration and control. -be able to practice following steps. -be able to practice dexterity. -be able to practice socialization. -be given skills to encourage project-making outside of class.
In order for learners to participate, they will need these items for EVERY class: -a medium length, general purpose hand-sewing needle (one with an eye big enough to be threaded with general purpose thread) -a needle threader (for learners who possibly need added assistance in threading a needle) -a spool of all-purpose thread, any color -age-appropriate scissors -piece of scrap cotton fabric (12 x 12 inch minimum size) OR a beginning project they are working on & the project supplies -thimble (in case the needle has trouble going through the fabric) -pins/pincushion if they are working on a project -paper and pencil for those who want to take notes
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental Guidance is due to use of sharp objects such as needles & scissors.
