Class Experience

Students will learn anger management and problem-solving skills for handling extreme emotions. They will participate in classroom forum and discussions about what happens in their body and minds when they get angry and learn more age appropriate coping skills including relaxation techniques, and cognitive strategies to help them learn to manage emotions more effectively and appropriately. they do not need to share if they don't feel comfortable. The bodily responses and mind responses are universal to all people and students will learn how to trace the response and strategies to help handle it and cope with it more effectively. This is an extended course of the Anger Dragon course. This course is designed for older teenagers. We will work on changing thought patterns and refocusing frustration in a way to deal with it more effectively. This class will introduce the Anger Dragon Script through visual imagery. They will engage in role play, watch video clips and complete critical thinking activities both in and out of class, to encourage effective skills. No prerequisite knowledge is required for this class. Learner progress is evaluated through participation in this class.

I am offering this class as part of a four week series on anger management. I am offering it as a stand alone to introduce the concept of visualization and visual imagery as a cool down strategy for anger management. I have been a teacher since 2008, focusing much of my experience working with extreme behavioral management and special education students. I have been a behavioral therapist since 2014, working on and out of the homes with students with severe behavioral challenges.
