In this one - time class students will be introduced to the nature of Pythagoras Theorem. We will learn together: - What Pythagoras Theorem states - Why is it called ‘Pythagoras Theorem’ - How to derive it, mathematical proof - How to solve an exercise using the Pythagorean Theorem - Why is it important in today’s world Students will get an insight to a vital trigonometric concept that will come up several times in their mathematics class and make it easier for them when they will come across the topic of trigonometry in maths GCSE. I will illustrate examples with a variety in complexity in order for students to get a firm understanding.
Learning Goals
By the end of the lesson, students will gain a deep understanding of this concept and be confident solving problems using Pythagoras!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello my beautiful people, I am Athina, a recent graduate from University of Liverpool upon studying Actuarial Mathematics. I am very passionate about numbers and for that reason I decided to pursue it in my career. I am teaching any level of Mathematics and Economics on this platform, from primary to A-level, so please feel free to join my listings on any topic in Maths or Economics and I ensure you, you will learn and have fun at the same time, whilst building your passion for mathematical concepts. I've gained a recent experience of teaching students aged 10 - 18 from a teaching internship I've done last year in the UK and the end results were exceptional. I engaged students into creative problem - based learning and I was planning and implementing effective class management practices. Another fascinating experience, which has equipped me with lifetime skills and values was my time in South Africa, where I visited a small village, Saint Lucia and spent two weeks volunteering in the schools to educate kids aged 5-16 in solving mathematical problems and directing them through simplified examples.
My philosophy behind my teaching is that 'by the time a problem is created, its solution is created at the same time'. This motto carries me through life as I firmly believe that any problem can be solved, but also when using mathematical expertise, no matter how I hard a problem is we just have to focus on the solution.
And finally, a fun fact about me is that I have never tasted chocolate before :)
