US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this ongoing class, we will be delving into the world of sight words. Why are these words so important to learn? Here are a few reasons: Boosting Reading Confidence: Mastering sight words can give learners a confidence boost in their reading abilities. Tackling Challenging Words: Learning sight words enables students to handle more complex vocabulary with ease. Building Context Clues: Sight words help students develop their understanding of context within sentences. Enhancing Reading Fluency: Mastery of sight words contributes to smoother and more fluent reading. Speeding Up Reading: Proficiency in sight words allows students to read more quickly. Using phonics or picture-based reading techniques for these words can be ineffective, especially for young readers still honing their decoding skills. That's why knowing these words "by sight" is so crucial. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to four different sight words each week. They'll have the chance to read each word within a sentence, contributing to their overall comprehension. This class is meticulously designed to cater to the needs of all first-graders, employing a diverse range of methods including NearPod, dancing, singing, writing, and reading. Weekly printables and flashcards will be provided, eliminating the need to purchase a separate workbook. Before enrolling your learner, please note that students should be able to identify -CVC words. If this is an area where your learner needs assistance, please message us so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our lesson plan. Weekly Schedule: Week 1: go, is, the, this Week 2: like, to, see, we Week 3: first, had, he, I Week 4: REVIEW (Going through all sight words) Week 5: was, an, for, just Week 6: many, one, she, they Week 7: REVIEW (Recap of all sight words) Please Note: The schedule will be updated during week 4 to ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Throughout the course, NearPod will be our go-to tool, which can be used on a different device or the same device your learners are using to learn. 📱📚
